Nature is a Badass
Nature is a badass.
There, I said it.
I love how badass it is. When I see plants growing in sidewalk cracks where nothing “should” grow I’m thrilled. And inspired.
Why?
Because nature doesn’t doubt itself. That plant growing in the crack of the sidewalk doesn’t care if it is supposed to be there or not. It just grew there anyway.
Like the kudzu that covers much of the southeast of the United States, nature doesn’t stop. It just keeps growing and expanding. It is not worried about pleasing anyone. It is here to please itself and do what needs to be done to survive and thrive. There aren’t any plants telling other plants, “No, you go ahead and bloom, my blossoms aren’t good enough.” Nope, nature shows off and doesn’t care if it is “good enough.” IT IS and that makes it enough.
So when I’m hanging out in doubt, I go hang out in nature. I am reminded that I too, am enough, just as I am. That I can bloom and expand because I am alive and that is what living things do. It reminds me to be courageous in all my glorious me-ness. To not worry about what others may think. But instead, remember that being myself is the gift I am to the world.
And if I’m just a plant in a sidewalk crack, THAT is enough.
